
This Driver Policy (“Policy”) outlines the obligations, responsibilities, and conduct expectations applicable to all individuals (“Driver(s)”) who register and offer rides through the HiRide India platform operated by HIRIDE TREK PRIVATE LIMITED (“Company”, “HiRide”, “we”, or “our”).
By registering as a Driver, you acknowledge and agree to comply with the terms set forth herein.
Eligibility and Mandatory Documentation
Valid Driving Licence
Every Driver must possess a valid and active driving licence issued in their own name, authorizing them to operate the class of vehicle (car or bike) used for providing rides through the platform.
Vehicle Ownership and Registration Requirements
If the vehicle used for rides is registered in the Driver’s name, the Driver must hold the original and valid:
Registration Certificate (RC)
Insurance Certificate
Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate, wherever applicable
Drivers must ensure these documents remain valid at all times during their association with HiRide.
Verification and Onboarding Requirements
The Driver is required to upload a clear photograph/selfie with their vehicle, displaying the vehicle registration number.
The Company reserves the right to request additional documentation for verification, safety, or compliance purposes.
Electric Vehicle Incentive
Drivers operating Electric Vehicles (EVs) may be entitled to special offers or discounts as determined and updated periodically by the platform. Eligibility criteria and benefits will be communicated through official channels.
Vehicle Standards and Passenger Safety
Maximum Passenger Limit
Drivers shall not carry more passengers than the maximum occupancy limit permitted under the law or specified in the vehicle’s registration certificate. Overloading is strictly prohibited.
Vehicle Cleanliness and Condition
Drivers must ensure that their vehicle is maintained in a clean, hygienic, roadworthy, and safe condition at all times.
This includes:
Proper functioning of lights, brakes, mirrors, and indicators
Clean seats and interiors
No foul odour or unhygienic conditions
Safe and Responsible Driving
Drivers are required to:
Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations
Avoid rash or aggressive driving
Refrain from the use of intoxicants, mobile phones (except hands-free), or any activity that compromises passenger safety
Violation of safety standards may result in warnings, suspension, or permanent removal from the platform.
Wallet Balance and Financial Conduct
Negative Wallet Limit
Drivers must ensure that their wallet balance does not fall below ₹100 in negative.
If the balance exceeds this limit:
The Driver may be restricted from accepting further rides
They must immediately clear the outstanding balance before continuing to use the platform
Settlement of Dues
Any pending dues, penalties, or transaction discrepancies must be settled in a timely manner. Continued failure to settle dues may result in account suspension.
Rating System and Platform Conduct
Adherence to Rating Standards
Drivers must adhere to and maintain a satisfactory rating as prescribed by the platform.
Consequences of Poor Ratings
Repeated poor ratings or negative feedback may result in progressive disciplinary actions, including:
Warnings
Mandatory training or compliance checks
Temporary suspension
Permanent deactivation of the account
Professional Behaviour
Drivers are expected to maintain courteous, respectful, and professional behaviour with all passengers and platform personnel at all times.
Cost Contribution and Profit Restriction
Cost Sharing Model
HiRide operates on a cost-sharing arrangement. Drivers must not charge any amount that exceeds the actual cost incurred for the trip.
No Profit-Making Provision
Drivers are strictly prohibited from requesting or receiving:
Profit-generating contributions
Amounts exceeding proportionate cost share
Charges inconsistent with cost-sharing nature
Driver Responsibility to Calculate Costs
Drivers are solely responsible for calculating expenses, including:
Fuel
Toll charges
Parking fees
Maintenance costs where applicable
The cost contribution sought must not exceed actual expenses excluding the Driver’s own share.
Transparency with Passengers
Drivers must ensure clarity and fairness in cost-sharing arrangements and refrain from misrepresentation.
Compliance, Monitoring, and Consequences
Ongoing Compliance
Drivers must comply with all applicable laws, platform policies, and instructions issued by HiRide.
Monitoring and Review
The Company reserves the right to monitor Driver activity, investigate complaints, and review compliance.
Enforcement Actions
Disciplinary actions may include:
Temporary suspension
Restriction of features
Financial penalties (if applicable)
Permanent account deactivation
Acknowledgment
By registering as a Driver on the HiRide platform, the Driver acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this Driver Policy. Continued use of the platform constitutes ongoing acceptance of these terms.
